Clash on the Dunes, the long-awaited shock

On December 7th, it’s the “Clash on the Dunes”, the huge heavyweight boxing match between Andy Ruiz Jr and Anthony Joshua. A first for Saudi Arabia.

Only three more days to wait, but the tension is already palpable. In three days’ time, the very first fight for the world heavyweight title in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will take place. We know that the region is very fond of major sporting events, especially when it comes to combat sports. The spectators may get value for their money because the two fighters promised to “make history”. Epic battle in perspective. The fight will take place at the Diriyah Arena.

New scenario or rehearsal?

This is actually the revenge between the two men. Anthony “AJ” Joshua, the gold medallist at the 2012 Olympic Games, returns to challenge Andy “The Destroyer” Ruiz Jr, currently defending champion WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO after his June loss by technical KO in the 7th round.

The event will take place as part of the Diriyah Season, one of the tourist seasons created to enhance the Saudi territory after its opening to non-religious tourism. Others are also parts of it, such as the Formula E championship, or the Diriyah Tennis Cup.
