An immersion in the heart of the pyramid of Cheops in Paris

In Paris, the Arab World Institute of Paris offers a unique virtual expedition to the heart of ancient Egypt. Visitors will become for a little less than an hour the explorers of the Great Pyramid of Cheops, an archaeological and architectural treasure of the Giza plateau.

An adventure more than an exhibition

Equipped with a virtual reality equipment, a connected backpack and an immersive headset, your fictional guide Mona will take you through a 500m² path retracing in detail each corner of this construction. During 45 minutes, Mona will reveal you the secrets of the pyramid while the visitors will have only to be subjugated by their environment. This immersive journey will allow you to climb without difficulty to the top of the pyramid to admire the Cairo of today. Then, from one moment to the next, you will find yourself boarding a funeral boat on the Nile to attend the funeral of King Cheops, 3,000 years before our era.

 

A unique visit

This augmented reality experience allows visitors to explore in a way that is otherwise impossible. By combining cutting-edge technology with the Egyptological knowledge of Harvard professor Peter Der Manuelian, the Arab World Institute has developed a more realistic exhibition. Spaces normally closed to the public are open to visitors, as are the richly decorated galleries and burial chambers within the pyramid.
