To start this month of October, we invite you to the heart of Provence, in the city of Miramas, known for its climate, the heights of its old town and its summer music festivals that attract thousands of people. To celebrate Arab, Near and Middle Eastern cinema, the 12th edition of Panorama will be held from October 8 to 17.
A festival focused exclusively on the Middle East
No less than 9 countries of the region will be honored, namely Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iran, Israel, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria and Turkey: there will be something for all tastes and sensibilities! This is one of the particularities of the Panorama festival: to present artists and works of different origins, both emerging and world-renowned.
The films are chosen from among those freshly released in French cinemas, and offer points of view on social issues, such as the position of women in society or geopolitical stakes, depending on the authors, directors and country of origin.
A 360° event
But Panorama is not just about watching films! It’s a true 360° event that offers evenings to meet and exchange ideas, round tables and conferences to discuss and get inspired, and workshops adapted to our youngest film enthusiats!
Visitors will have the chance to listen to, and maybe even meet, Palestinian directors Arab and Tarzan Nasser, or Lebanese director Khalil Dreyfus Zaarour, as well as Asal Bagheri, a specialist in Iranian cinema, but also Xavier Nataf for Israeli cinema, Vincent Malausa, journalist and film critic, and Faruk Gunaltay for an evening on Turkish cinema. Dominique Chansel, cinema addicted, and Marie-Jo Long, a talented screenwriter, will also be there!
All in all, a great group of people who are dedicated to promote cinema, art and diversity throughout this great event for the next 9 days.
