Throughout her poignant speech, the young woman therefore recalled the reasons why it is urgent to give priority to the right to education, and to highlight the current problems that make the schooling of girls throughout the world difficult. In particular, she highlighted the numerous difficulties that still persist today and hinder the schooling of young girls throughout the world.

Denouncing at the same time the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on schooling, she recalled the need for every girl to be able to complete her 12 years of studies

I really hope that governments, teachers, civil society and education activists will pay full attention to this issue, ensuring that girls are learning at home, right now” she said.

She added: “There is a gender disparity when looking at the impact of COVID-19 on education, not only during the pandemic but also after, when many children are back in school. Many girls may be held back and will not be able to return to school“.

Thanks to the “Malala Fund” she created, a series of initiatives have been implemented to enable young girls around the world to continue learning despite the pandemic before returning to school as soon as possible.
