Dubai Food Festival: gastronomy in the spotlight

Brace yourselves gourmets in the Gulf and elsewhere: the highly anticipated Dubai Food Festival returns today for its sixth edition. As usual, the festivities will highlight the diversity of the Middle Eastern culinary scene. Discover restaurants, new culinary experiences… Here’s an overview of some of the events planned for the next two weeks.

1. Restaurant Week

The first major event of the Dubai Food Festival is Restaurant Week. On this occasion, the best restaurants in the city are opening their doors to offer food lovers three-course menus specially designed for the festival. While prices are relatively high throughout the year, many discounts in these restaurants are granted during this week. This year, as usual, the chefs are changing their programs to surprise visitors.

2. The Canteen on the beach

From Latin American cuisine to Eastern European food, including Middle Eastern dishes… The beach Canteen is the ideal place for anyone who wants to fully enjoy the world’s cuisines and discover local concepts. On the agenda: culinary demonstrations, fitness events and a variety of entertainment around gastronomy.

3. The Hidden Jewels

In the quiet streets of Dubai, such as in the Jumeirah district, many restaurants are little known to the inhabitants and yet very affordable. On the occasion of the two-week Dubai Food Festival, a competition entitled “Hidden Jewels” will be organized to select the city’s best little-known restaurant. The 10 finalists will be invited to propose special menus worth 35 dirhams (10 dollars) during the rest of the festival. More than a simple competition, this one will aim to bring to the forefront restaurants that are still not very popular.

4. Taste of Dubai

Taste Of Dubai is an opportunity for food lovers to enrich their knowledge. Every year, thousands of fans gather in the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre to attend classes led by renowned chefs, giving culinary demonstrations on stage. A series of concerts are also planned for the occasion. Between tastings and entertainment, visitors will have the opportunity to attend an event that reveals the secrets of the greatest chefs.
