A Google doodle dedicated to the celebration of the national holiday

Often inspired when it comes to customizing its interface according to current events, Google pays tribute today to the national holiday of Saudi Arabia with a Doodle created specifically for the occasion.

Google joined Saudi Arabia to celebrate its national holiday by displaying this Friday on the homepage of the search engine a doodle representing the flag of the kingdom. Visible only in Saudi Arabia, the doodle celebrates the kingdom’s national holiday, known in Arabic as Al-Yaom-ul-Watany. The Google doodle features the green flag of the Kingdom, adopted in 1973.

A renewed operation

Google is used to this kind of newsjacking operations, the American firm had already made a dedicated Doodle for the Saudi national day in 2020.

Google’s Doodle can sometimes also highlight works or artists known in the Arab world. Artists like Mohammed Racim, Ahmed Zaki or Maliheh Afnan have been honored very recently via a Google Doodle. A nice tribute to the world of arts and letters of the Middle East.
