In pictures: Zaha Hadid’s last hotel
The Opus, also known as the ME Dubai, is the latest project by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid, who died in 2016 at the age of 65. It has the distinction of being the only building whose architect designed both the interior and exterior.
His architecture poses him like a UFO in the Dubai skyline. The ME Dubai, official name: The Opus is a hotel composed of two towers connected by a cube as if levitated above the ground. Reaching a height of 93 meters (21 floors), it offers a total of some 200,000 m² of living space.

Historically, the Opus is one of the last emblematic towers of the Burj Khalifa district. After ten years between the signing of the contract (2007) and the delivery of the project, the requirements remained the same: an “elegant, minimalist, connected” building with low carbon emissions, in line with the country’s strategic orientations in terms of pollution.
Above all, the building boasts a resolutely futuristic design, highlighted by fluid lines, voluptuous curves, juxtapositions of soft and sharp angles, all enhanced by advanced technophilia.
But it is still in pictures that we best appreciate the beauty of the place, for the amateurs…
Let us recall that Zaha Hadid, through her agency Zaha Hadid Architects, has won a plethora of awards for her work such as, for example, the Mies van der Rohe Prize in 2003, or the Pritzker Prize in 2004. Among his most prominent projects are the MAXXI in Rome, the Bridge Pavilion in Zaragoza and the Phaeno in Wolfsburg.
