What made this mountain so special ?

Jabal al Isbii was formed millions of years ago and has not changed since then. It is part of Tuwaiq, a mountainous chain of over 1 200 km long. However, al Isbii is the only mountaintop presenting such sedimental build-up. According to experts, its cliffs and slopes were separated from al-Qiddiya, the nearby mountains, due to atmospheric conditions. The exact reasons of Jabal al Isbii’s birth practically remain a mystery.

Nowadays, the area is also home to lots of differents fossils, especially marine species. Those include coral reefs, shells and snails.

This geological attraction made of Khsham Tuwaiq Saudi Arabia’s most significant region for tourism, both in terms of surface and number of visitors. Therefore, Tuwaiq now stands as a symbol for natural and economical riches.

A varied range of tourists

Al Isbii drains multitudes of curious foreign visitors, among which hikers and mountain lovers, who come to admire the breath-taking beauty of this landscape.

Many photographers come all year long to try to capture the uniqueness of the mountain as well. Sulaiman al-Gwainee’s photos have become particularly famous in Saudi Arabia.
