Jeddah Opens the Second Movie Theater in Saudi Arabia

Twice as nice! After the opening of a cinema in Riyadh last year, it is Jeddah’s turn to host a movie theater.

On January 28, a Vox Cinema opened its doors in the Red Sea Mall shopping centre in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This is a major step forward, given that between 1980 and 2018, no cinema was allowed in Saudi Arabia. The ban was lifted thanks to the Vision 2030  of Crown Prince Mohammed ben Salmane whose project aims, among other things, to bring entertainment in the kingdom up to date. With this second opening – and others to come – the film industry should make a significant contribution to the country’s economy.
