Little Amal walks for refugees

The puppet created by the Handspring Puppet Company of the Good Chance Theater is embarking on a symbolic humanitarian action: rallying Europe to Syria, on foot, to show its support for the cause of migrants.

This huge puppet doll is called “Little Amal”. Translate: Little Amal. Not so small though, since it is almost 3.5 meters high. This immense puppet with the effigy of a young Syrian child is about to travel 8000 kilometers, from Syria to Europe, to change mentalities and perceptions regarding the cause of refugees.

To draw international attention to the urgent needs of migrant populations, the living artwork will travel through Turkey, Greece, Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and the United Kingdom.

The march will start in April 2021, and is expected to end at the Manchester International Festival in July.
