New flying hydrogen boat unveiled at Dubai boat show

French company Seabubbles distinguished itself at the Dubai International Boat Show with the presentation of the Seabubbles X-Pearl, a hydrogen-powered flying boat model that could revolutionize coastal tourism all while protecting the environment.

The Dubai International Boat Show is the most important boat show in the United Arab Emirates. It is not only a must-attend event for potential buyers of all kinds of yachts, but also an opportunity for companies like Seabubbles to present their latest products.

This was the case with the X-Pearl, named as an homage to the region’s pearling heritage, a vessel designed to carry up to eight passengers, which is positioned “at the crossroads of the comfort of a luxury car, the convenience of a speedboat and the stability of an airplane”, according to its manufacturer.

Several possible uses

Water cab, VIP shuttle, or private yacht, the applications are numerous, and particularly attractive for this coastal region.

In addition to its small size, its greatest strength is undoubtedly its mode of propulsion. The fact that it runs on clean energy – it is powered by hydrogen, a fuel that does not emit greenhouse gases – would allow it to be potentially used for ecotourism in protected areas, which are increasingly numerous in the region.

These are encouraging market prospects for the French manufacturer, which has no doubt been alerted to the news that the United Arab Emirates is betting big on the development of the hydrogen sector.
