News Flash: The Amir of Kuwait Sabah al-Ahmed al-Jabir dies at 91 years old
The Emir of Kuwait Sabah al-Ahmed al-Jabir, who had ruled the country since 2006, has just passed away at the age of 91, Kuwait Public Television announced.
“It is with great sorrow that we mourn the death of Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jabir al-Sabah, Amir of Kuwait,” said Sheikh Ali Jarrah al-Sabah, minister in charge of royal affairs in a recording broadcast on television.
The Kuwaiti leader had previously served in foreign affairs for 14 years at the head of the country. His designated successor is his brother, Nawaf Al-Ahmed Al-Jabir Al-Sabah, born in 1937.
