Petra tops Lonely Planet’s list of destinations

The famous travel guide has just published a top 100 of the best activities to do during the vacations, and the Nabataean site of Petra has beaten everyone to the punch by taking first place. Now you know what to do with your next vacation!

It is certainly not those who have already been there who will say the opposite: Petra did not usurp this first place in the Lonely Planet ranking of the best activities to do during the vacations.

In fact, the Nabataean archaeological site offers an unforgettable experience: lunar decoration and ancestral constructions create a guaranteed change of scenery and the promise to discover our illustrious predecessors who populated the region. One thus crosses the Sîq, a long rocky corridor that leads to the treasure of Petra, a tomb called Khazneh. At the other end of the site, don’t miss the Deir, a breathtaking monastery.

The site has left behind illustrious destinations such as the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the middle of Australia’s Red Centre, Yellowstone National Park in the United States, the Galapagos Islands, and the Okavango Delta in Botswana, the second-largest inland delta in the world after the Niger Delta in Mali.
