Refugee Food Festival: refugee chefs in the spotlight in the kitchens of Marseille

For its 7th edition, the Refugee Food Festival will take place in Marseille. From 18 to 25 June, the city’s restaurant owners, including bakeries and pastry shops, will share their stoves with refugee chefs.

The festivities will take place in eight Marseille restaurants, whose menus will be enriched by dishes co-created with chefs from all over the world, making for a tasty cultural journey! Thus, for a period of 7 days, it will be possible to taste Ukrainian buns and breads at Pain Salvator, to try a zaatar sour drink thanks to the Iraqi chef Morice Boles Marcos at the Brasserie de la Plaine or to taste Nahed Damlakhi’s 100% Syrian meal at the Goûts du Monde restaurant.

Sharing culture and fighting prejudice

The Refugee Food Festival’s primary objective is to raise awareness of world cultures and lower the barrier of prejudice against refugees in France. By showcasing the culinary talents of chefs from all over the world, the festival hopes to offer them new professional opportunities as well as enable them to better integrate into the community. In addition to this week, training courses are provided throughout the year by the Festin association, which initiated the festival, to help them integrate into the world of work.

See you on 18 June to share moments of fraternity over a delicious meal!
