Saudi designer Arwa Al-Banawi redesigns Adidas’ iconic sneakers

To redesign its iconic sneakers of the sportswear giant Adidas, it is the Saudi designer Arwa Al-Banawi that the brand decided to call! A new commitment to modernize and honor the classic and timeless pieces of the German brand. 

Newly designed, the designer’s shoes will come in pastel desert colors and feature a red and white woven heel, which is inspired by the checkerboard pattern of traditional Arabic fabrics.

And the designer wasn’t chosen by chance! In recent years, Arwa Al-Banawi has established herself as one of the most creative designers of her generation. Seeking to empower the women of her native region, the designer wants to pay homage to her Gulf roots in her designs.

Adidas is not her first collaboration. The designer has already had a lot of experience in fashion and has worked with brands like Levi’s and Pepsi before signing with Adidas

Her work is precise and Arwa wants to combine traditional tailoring with contemporary perspectives. That’s why she works in her design studios in Jeddah and Dubai, the means to bring together both Eastern and Western influences.
