What does the flag of Bahrain look like?

There are no frills on the flag of Bahrain, which is very simple, with only two colors. Bright red and white reign supreme on this rectangular flag. What is the distribution of these two colors? On the flagpole side, white occupies one third of the flag, and red covers two thirds. Another important detail to note: the white part has serrations. That is to say five teeth in total.

Before 1782, Bahrain was under Persian rule, represented by the Persian flag. It is by gradually gaining its independence, from 1783, that the country designed its own flag until knowing five versions in total. At the beginning, this one was only red. Then, from 1820, when Bahrain was under the protection of the British kingdom, the flag was enriched with a white stripe on the side of the flagstaff. It is only in 1932 that the serration appears. The number of teeth gradually decreased from eight to five in 2002. This is the date when the current flag came into force. It is present on all official buildings and represents the country on the international scene.

There is a variant to this national flag, that of the King of Bahrain. It is used only by the King of Bahrain and has a golden crown on the side of the flagpole, as well as two additional white stripes at the top and bottom.
