Where We Summer: The top 5 beaches in Tunisia

Mahdia, Kélibia, or Tunis, many Tunisian cities have idyllic swimming spots. The promise? A postcard setting, with crystal-clear waters and white sand to support it. As the vacations approach, we take stock of the 5 most beautiful beaches in Tunisia!

1 – Mahdia and its dream beaches

Clear waters, fine sand, wild landscapes … The beaches of the coastal town of Mahdia, 200 km south of Tunis, have everything to please! They are part of a seaside resort on a human scale and a coastline lined with small white houses. A typically Mediterranean setting, offering a multitude of activities: lazing around, scuba diving, water sports, thalasso treatments, etc. The most famous beaches of Mahdia? Salakta and Chebba. Not to mention all the secret coves, nestled in the hollow of the rocks.

2 – Kélibia, between authenticity and magnificent beaches

A few years ago, the beach of Kélibia was ranked “7th most beautiful beach in the world” by the American magazine Daily Dig. Located at the tip of Cap Bon, the beach of Kélibia has a Byzantine fortress as a backdrop, whose panorama is breathtaking.

3 – Marsa beach, a stone’s throw from Tunis

A trip to Tunis planned soon? Think about giving yourself a moment of idleness on the beach of Marsa. The latter, known for being chic, is praised for the cleanliness of its water and the blondness of its sand grains. Nestled between the green hills, it enjoys an advantageous location that protects it from the wind. Another positive point is the cafes and fish restaurants that line the beach and provide a warm atmosphere.

4 – The beach of Houmt Souk on the island of Djerba

On the island of Djerba, the beach of Houmt Souk is distinguished by large areas dedicated to water sports, but also by the presence of pink flamingos. Their flight offers an unforgettable spectacle, feet in the water! A preserved place, also appreciated for the beauty of its sea bed. At the end of the day, don’t miss to visit the city of Houmt Souk, the capital of Djerba. You will discover many religious monuments and markets dedicated to crafts.

5 – The Kerkennah archipelago, off Sfax

Unknown, the Kerkennah archipelago is wild, discreet, as if it were isolated from the world. The two main islets, Gharbi and Chergui, are inhabited by fishing families who live from fishing, agriculture and crafts. It is a place where one eats divinely well and where one can fully relax. The beaches are heavenly, especially that of Sidi Frej on the island of Chergui, where the fine sand mixes with emerald water. How to reach this archipelago? By boat, from the port of Sfax.
