A second life starts for the Dubai World Expo

The Al Wasl Dome of Dubai’s Expo 2020 is to be brought back to life this Saturday. After the success of the mega-event, the Dubai Expo City district will retain 80 percent of the infrastructure built by the Expo for future use.

Many wondered what would happen to the infrastructure of the Dubai World Expo, which attracted some 20 million visitors over six months. Rebranded and recycled, the structure is destined to continue to exist. It is even being sold as a clean, green, high-tech, human-centered city of the future. Expo City Dubai will be a model of sustainable urbanism, conducive to innovation and action on the road to “Net Zero”.

Different pavilions are open every day

Among the elements that will live on after the Expo are Alif, the pavilion focused on mobility, and Terra, the one focused on sustainability. The latter, for example, embodies the best of what’s happening on Earth in terms of sustainable architecture and design practices. In its case, the goal of this second life is to encourage visitors to reevaluate their relationship with the environment through an immersive journey through the ocean and forest.

Of course, other elements of the exhibit will be reopened to the public, such as its centerpiece, the Al Wasl Dome, which once again delights visitors with its 360-degree sound and light shows. A new era has begun for this historic site.
