A young Lebanese woman wins a prestigious photo contest with this picture

A young Lebanese nurse has just won the “Moments” photography contest in Dubai. The competition, organized by National Geographic Abu Dhabi, is one of the most prestigious in the Arab world.

Her name is Zeinab Khalifeh, she works as a nurse and does photography in her spare time. This 26-year-old Lebanese woman has just won the “Moments” competition at a ceremony held at the Youth Hub in the Emirates Towers of Dubai.

“Uncle Hasan”

Her poignant cliché, which won over 50,000 applications and 90 finalists, depicts an elderly tailor busy on his sewing machine. Entitled “Am Hasan”, or “Uncle Hasan”, it pays tribute to the man who worked in the Sidon souk for more than 40 years, before dying a few months ago.

For the young photographer, “photography is about building a pure bond with people and trying to depict it in an instant. My image represents a moment of his 40th birthday in the souk. Forty years of hope and sadness he shared with his sewing machine.”
