According to the ranking the Passport Index website, the Emirates passport is the most powerful one in the world in 2019.
The website, which ranks global passports according to their cross-border access and the number of countries to which they provide visa-free or visa-free access on arrival, gives the Gulf State a score of 167. The United Arab Emirates are followed by Germany (166) and Singapore (165), two countries that have long held the top spot in this ranking.
Visa-free access to 113 countries
With their passports, Emirati citizens can travel to 113 countries without a visa and to 54 countries with a visa issued them on arrival.
As the only Middle Eastern state in the top 20 of the Passport Index, the United Arab Emirates has made considerable efforts to make their national passport the most powerful identity document in the world. In three years, the country has moved up 26 places from a score of 122 in 2016 to first place in 2019.
