The earthquake, measuring a magnitude of 7.0, marked the strongest tremor to shake Morocco in a century and sent shockwaves of grief across the region.

The epicenter of the seismic event, which occurred on the 8th of september shortly after 11 p.m. local time (22:00 GMT), was pinpointed 75 kilometers (46.6 miles) southeast of Marrakech, at a depth of 18.5 kilometers. Videos circulating on social media captured the immediate aftermath, revealing residents scrambling to evacuate their trembling homes.
As the news of this devastating natural disaster unfolded, neighboring Arab nations swiftly conveyed their condolences and support to Morocco emphasizing their support and solidarity with Moroccans while numerous expressing their willingness to provide relief aid and assistance to people in the areas affected by the earthquake. Morocco has already accepted urgent relief aid from the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
