Catwalk, the Saudi initiative to protect big cats

Catmosphere was founded in 2021 by Saudi Princess Reema bint Bandar Al Saud. As a businesswoman, a philanthropist and a diplomat, the Princess was committed to animal protection, in particular that of big cats and wild cats, which are in danger of extinction: therefore, the organisation strives to raise public awareness on this issue, and to inform on the subject through inspiring campaigns. In this dual perspective of preserving the species and raising public awareness, a worldwide walk was organised: Catwalk was born!

A great cause for the animal world

Catmosphere works together with Panthera, the only acknowledged organisation working to protect the 40 species of wild cats and their ecosystems worldwide, thanks to the precious expertise of biologists specialised in felines: all Catmosphere’s profits are donated to Panthera because of their dedication!

Panthera also celebrates 15 years of work and research for the preservation of cats in 2021.

The safety and survival of 7 cat species in particular are of great concern: the leopard, the Arabian leopard (a subspecies of the leopard), the snow leopard, the jaguar, the puma, the tiger, the lion, and the cheetah. These species can be found all over the world: in North and Latin America, in Asia and even in Central Siberia for the snow leopard, in Africa and of course in the Middle East for the Arabian leopard.

Environmental problems causing major degradation of natural habitats and therefore a reduction in prey, increased poaching, these are several causes and circumstances that jeopardise the survival of the animals. The endangerment and potential extinction of these magnificent species are the reason why Catmosphere wishes to rally its forces and organise a worldwide event, to alert and reach as many people as possible: Catwalk.

The Catwalk concept

A special event will take place on Saturday 6 November 2021! The walk is part of the campaign to raise awareness about the issues mentioned above, and allows us to understand felines a bit better, and to make people realise that their habitat, their space is essential to them, vital even

The 7 km can be walked anywhere! That’s the special thing about Catwalk: everyone can join in, no matter where they are. The walk has also been designed for everyone: the Catwalk Clubs are intended for families and children, who can walk 700 m and do an activity of their choice. For the more enduring, running is also allowed! Or a combo of running and walking, at the time of your choice, for greater adaptation and flexibility.

All participants will also be able to choose their favourite feline, as if to dedicate their efforts to it!  Participants with the same favourite animal will form a Cat Crew, and the team that will cover the furthest distance will see their cat crowned!

Registrations are open since Saturday 18 September on catmosphere.org/catwalk, where you can choose your mascot and sport preferences… The results of the walk will be available on Sunday 7 November

Don’t wait, tell your friends and family, and go for it (literally)
