Disco Maghreb: DJ Snake pays tribute to Algerian music

In his new production Disco Maghreb, DJ Snake realizes a real musical meeting between two very particular styles of music. Indeed, the French producer has associated the electro style to the raï, popular music of the Maghreb, in order to honor his Algerian origins as well as an icon of the traditional music of the country.

“A bridge between different generations and origins”

The title Disco Maghreb refers to the production company of the same name, which produced the celebrities of rai, the “cheh”, in the 1980s, such as Khaled, Mami or Hasni. The producer, born of a French father and an Algerian mother, has thus for the first time opted for oriental sounds.

”I imagined Disco Maghreb as a bridge between different generations and origins, linking North Africa, the Arab world and beyond … It is a love letter to my people.”

Disco Maghreb, rai and cassettes

The song was played repeatedly at showcases and festivals and the fans of the composer were eager to see the new video clip. The track is now available on all platforms, and the audience was not disappointed! The video clip of the song highlights the record company and store Disco Maghreb, located in Oran. The famous cassettes once used are strong symbols of the music tribute.

The most listened to French artist in the world has already planned a tour through France this summer, to discover this new sound in the colors of his origins.
