In pictures: the UAE’s first ever Snow-Run

While some are battling the summer heat and its hot days, others in Dubai have donned their mountain clothes to compete in the Emirates’ first ever Snow-Run.

We will all agree that this summer, the mercury did not pretend to be rising. Several heat waves have seen temperatures approaching 40 degrees in Europe, and this is all the more the case in Dubai. And it was again last weekend! However, leaving aside the strategies of one another to keep cool (air conditioning, swimming pool, foggers), the Dubaians swapped shorts, skirts and sandals for hats, fleeces, and winter socks in order to participate in the very first “Snow-Run” of the country.

Winter sports in the middle of the desert

The event took place in Ski Dubai, the winter sports resort opened in 2005 in the heart of the Mall of the Emirates, the city’s huge shopping mall, as part of DXB Snow week. In concrete terms, it was a three-kilometer race in an indoor environment where the temperature reaches 4 degrees below zero.

Some unique pictures, to say the least…
