The most awaited of the pop culture festivals is back in Dubai this Thursday, April 11 for its 8th edition. Over the course of a weekend, fans of manga, comics and the 7th art will be able to attend conferences, exhibitions and meet many celebrities who have come especially for the event.

Wonder Woman, Captain America, Spider-Man… The superheroes are about to invade the Emirates capital. One of the most anticipated cultural events in the Middle East, the Middle East Film & Comic Con, is back in Dubai this weekend for its 8th edition. Organized from April 11 to 13, the event, which will take place at the Dubai World Trade Center, has a rich program this year.

Guest stars on the program

For its 2019 edition, the festival has set the bar high by inviting several collaborators from the Marvel universes, DC Comics, Games of Thrones and The Walking Dead. Big names from the comic book industry such as David Finch (Batman) and Sana Taked (Pokémon) will also be on hand to answer visitors’ questions.

Another highlight of the weekend is the cosplay competition. Every year, many visitors wear their most beautiful costumes, ranging from ingenuity to genius to the strangest. A unique competition that allows the most daring to win the most important prize: a trip to Japan to participate in the World Cosplay Summit.

Hellboy in preview

Coming to Comic Con is also the right way to watch movies and series in preview. This year, visitors will be able to attend unique pre-projections such as Neil Marshall’s upcoming reboot of Hellboy and Wicken, Faisal Hashmi’s latest horror film.

The pop culture festival is finally famous for its multitude of stands offering visitors a plethora of manga collections, the first editions of the Marvel or DC classics, old school game consoles and many other surprises.
