No, Egypt Is Not The Country With The Most Pyramids

In your opinion, which country has the largest number of pyramids? Hint: it is not Egypt, but it is a country in the Arab world.

Sudan, home to hundreds of pyramids

We are talking about Sudan, which has between 200 and 255 known triangular tombs, compared to the 138 found in Egypt. The pyramids in Sudan were built by members of the Kingdom of Kush, an ancient civilisation that ruled the areas along the Nile River from 1070 B.C. to 350 A.D. and started even 500 years after the Egyptians.

Of course, the dimensions are also different: the average Kushite pyramid is 6 to 30 metres high, while the average Egyptian pyramid is about 138 metres high. Just think that the ancient city of Meroë alone had a staggering number of these structures: about 200 of the 255 pyramids that can be found in the country. Despite the large number, there are many questions that archaeologists have about these constructions, which for obvious reasons are less studied than their counterparts.
