Reem Ali Adeeb, the Hollywood artist who tutors confined Arab youths

Reem Ali Adeeb is an animation artist who works in Hollywood on high-profile projects such as the cartoon “Green eggs with ham”, available on Netflix. Recently, she launched her youtube channel in response to a lack of Arabic-speaking content online, to accompany children in the Arab world through the boredom of confinement.

Her channel is called Susupreemo. In it, she offers several videos a week in which she reads children’s books, gives tutorials on handicrafts, origami, dance, etc. The aim is to make their time in front of the screen as interactive and inspiring as possible,” said the young Hollywood artist from Syria, who wants to stimulate children’s imaginations as much as possible.

Prestigious tutor

The company that worked on the adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ “Green Eggs with Ham” for the Netflix platform, produced by none other than Warner Bros., found that the Internet, a rich source of content, was poor in terms of Arabic content. Yet the Arab world, like the rest of the world, has seen its population confined. It was therefore necessary to react, for the sake of children. From her home, she tries to bring them her artistic touch recognized by the whole profession.

A well-received project

The initiative was praised by Annamaria Laurini, former director of UNICEF in Lebanon, as well as by Soha Bsat Boustani, a consultant for the same NGO, based in Beirut, the latter recalling that “the type of activities offered by the channel allows children to regain a semblance of normality, it gives them a healthy way out of confinement“.
