Riyadh’s 1st Squid Game Experience is happening until March
Saudi Arabia is currently hosting the world’s first Squid Game Experience, offering an immersive simulation in the Netflix series until March 2022.
The Squid Game Experience is organized by the Saudi General Authority for Entertainment, which aims to revitalize this sector in the country. Indeed, in 2018 Saudi Arabia planned a budget of $64 billion over the next ten years to make the kingdom more attractive. And Netflix obviously seems to be a good source of inspiration to revitalize tourism!
“Squid Game” has been recognized as the event series of the year 2022, attracting more than 100 million viewers in the first month of its broadcast. This global hit series takes place in the South Korean crime scene, where men and women on the bangs of society participate in a big illegal contest to win a huge amount of money, and get out of poverty at any cost. This contest consists of 6 events – 6 games usually intended for children taking cruel measures. The rules are simple: win the game or lose and be killed.
An immersive and fun experience
The experience Riyadh offers is obviously much more peaceful and fun. Participants, dressed in numbered tracksuits, are invited to test their survival skills through the same challenges of the series, such as team tug-of-war and “Dalgona”, a traditional Korean game. Losers fall onto air mattresses or are condemned to try again another day, as only one player emerges as the winner of the competition.
The Squid Game Experience, although temporary, is a big hit with tourists and locals alike and is sold out most of the time. So, are you ready to hit the jackpot?
