The first Arabic soap opera to be released

The year 2019 was marked by the emergence of Arabic-language series such as “Jinn”, “Justice Qalb Al Adala” or “Dollar”. Why don’t we put the spotlight on the soap operas this time? For the year 2020, MBC Studios, Twofour54 and Image Nation of Abu Dhabi are joining forces to create “Heritage”, a unique Arabic soap opera.

Amazon and Netflix are not the only ones to perceive the cinematographic potential of the Middle East. Recently, MBC Studios partnered with Twofour54 and Image Nation of Abu Dhabi to produce “Heritage”, the new Arabic-language soap opera scheduled for release in early 2020.

“We are delighted to have concluded a long-term production agreement – the first of its kind in the Arab world”

Although no information has been provided so far on the plot or the choice of actors, “Heritage” is immediately positioned as the first soap opera in the Arab world. Indeed, unlike traditional series, whose duration is determined in advance, the broadcasting duration of “Héritage” will be 250 days per year, i.e. an open-ended broadcast.

A region with cinematographic potential

With the ambition of seeing more Arabic-language drama series being produced locally through a lucrative but underserved market, Twofour54 and MBC have entered into a long-term partnership, of which “Heritage” will be the first production of its kind. This partnership has already produced a wide range of Arabic content, including the series “Haret El Sheikh”, “Hob Bila Hudood”, “Boxing Girls” and “Al-Asouf”.
