The highlights of this years Middle East Film & Comic Con

The Middle East Film & Comic Con celebrated fantasy and pop culture once again at the Dubai World Trade Center. The multicultural convention, hosting rich encounters, entertaining shows and themed workshops began yesterday and comes to a close tomorrow.

A panel of stars

Similarly to the previous years, visitors have the opportunity to meet a wide range of stars from the worlds of film, television, music and comics. Participants are free to split their time however they please, between round table discussions, photo sessions, autograph signings, or simple moments of exchange. This year fans have the opportunity to get to know Mena Massoud, the lead actor in the latest Disney-produced Aladdin movie, Brandon Routh, who played Superman in the 2006 film Superman Returns or John Rhys Davies, giving life to Gimli in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

A Cosplay contest

The convention also invites the thousands of enthusiasts to display their sewing skills in a major Cosplay competition. The event encourages participants to put themselves into the shoes of their favorite heroes, through the aid of intricate costumes and detailed accessories, all of which are entirely custom-made. At the table of judges sit some of the biggest names in the business like Cavin Lam, Maru and Tobi Cosplay.

Lots of thematic workshops

Comic Con has become the shrine of “geek culture” in all corners of the world. It is the place where pop culture spills all its secrets. Visitors can discover the behind-the-scenes of comic book creation, the art of storytelling, or video game development, in workshops led by top tier industry insiders including Renee Witterstaetter (Avengers, Spider-Man, She-Hulk, Superman), David Angelo Roman (Rick & Morty), or Bob Layton (Iron Man).
