Tourism at the dawn of a post-oil future

This decision is part of wider efforts by the Sultanate to enhance its tourism sector, with a 348 percent increase in tourists in 2022 compared to the previous year. At the end of January 2023, revenue of 3-5 star hotels in Oman had risen by 50.8%.

The move is a positive sign for Oman’s economy, which has been seeking to diversify its revenue streams. A recent report projects revenue in the Travel & Tourism market to reach US$471.30m in 2023, with an annual growth rate of 7.20% and a projected market volume of US$622.50m by 2027.
