Tourism in the United Arab Emirates: 5 must-see sites

What to do and see when visiting the UAE? The country offers a wide range of experiences! From the extravagance of Dubai to the postcard-perfect landscapes of Fujairah and the XXL zip line of Ras al-Khaimah, here are 5 must-see places to visit in the UAE.

1 – The Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi is a must-see on any trip to the emirates. The capital of the country, the city (which is also an emirate!) is home to one of the most majestic monuments, the Sheikh Zayed Mosque. A work of art combining different architectural styles (Moroccan, Andalusian, Mameluke), it boasts figures that make your head spin: 82 domes, 1000 columns, four minarets measuring 106 metres high… Not to mention the prestigious materials used in the building, such as white marble, gold and crystal. It’s enough to leave you breathless!

2 – The world’s largest zip line in Ras al-Khaimah

You might think that the world’s largest zip line is located in the extravagant emirate of Dubai, but it’s not! To fly over the mountains, you have to go to Ras al-Khaimah. This small emirate, located in the north-east of the country, has a 2.8 km long zip line suspended at an altitude of 1600 metres. This is an activity for adrenaline-seeking travellers, which also offers a breathtaking view of the Jebel Jais Mountains.

3 – The beautiful beaches in the emirate of Fujairah

This little-known traditional emirate is nevertheless very popular with diving enthusiasts. And for good reason, Fujairah has idyllic beaches, as well as breathtaking seabeds. So much so, that it is one of the best dive sites in the whole of the United Arab Emirates! So where do you go to get to the best spots? On the beaches of Dibba or Al Aqah where excursions are organised.

4 – The Museum of Islamic Civilizations in Sharjah

What to do in Sharjah? Visit one of the most beautiful museums in the country: the MUCIVI, Museum of Islamic Civilisations. A cultural place, whose collections explore Islamic and Arab culture from the 7th to the 19th century. Here you can see various types of handicrafts, such as textile work, pottery, ceramics, etc. Special mention should be made of the seafront location which contributes to the charm of this museum. A must-see if you are visiting the UAE.

5 – The Burj Khalifa in Dubai

Modern, a place of all kinds of excess… The emirate of Dubai is the talk of the town! A haven for the jet set, Dubai entertains its guests with its luxurious hotels and extravagant attractions. Among them is the Burj Khalifa, the tallest tower in the world. Much more than a tower, this building is a true technical feat. At 828 metres high, it has 57 lifts and 28,601 windows. Its construction required the intervention of 12,000 professionals. To visit the Burj Khalifa, it’s best to get your tickets online as soon as possible! The best time? Sunset time, of course!
