Gamers8: The world’s largest gaming festival returns to Saudi Arabia

Organized by the Saudi Esports Federation in partnership with Mastercard, the event spans eight weeks and boasts a prize pool of 45 million dollars.

With an array of fifteen elite sports tournaments, it’s promising an intense and riveting gaming experience for participants and viewers alike, including for FIFAe enthusiasts, whose FIFAe World Cup 2023 was won by the Netherlands during the competition after they beat Australia.

For those eager to pit their wits against the best, Saudi Arabia’s professional esports club Team Falcon is taking part in challenges throughout the festival, with the chance to win valuable prizes.

More than just a gaming event

Beyond the gaming arena, the event showcases cultural celebrations, such as Japamura, a space dedicated to traditional Japanese customs. From cosplays to drum shows, attendees can delve into Japanese heritage. The Matcha tasting ceremony, tea corner, delectable sushi at the Yumakuramen kitchen and the Shodo class, offering insight into traditional Japanese calligraphy, further elevate the cultural experience.

“Japamura presented by Abdul Latif Jameel Motors is an ideal opportunity to embrace one of the most unique and fascinating cultures in the world. Japan is a nation renowned for a special culture that combines both tradition and modernity, and this is fully reflected in our enchanting world at Gamers8: The Land of Heroes.” said Ahmed Albishri, deputy CEO at the Saudi Esports Federation and Season Lead at Gamers8.

Moreover, gamers also had the exclusive chance to test play the newest character, Rashid the Turbulent Wind, from the upcoming Street Fighter 6. Incidentally, this character is the first Arabic-inspired character of the franchise.

Humorists in the spotlight

The event was also graced by comedians Anwar Jibai and Adam Waheed, who traveled to the kingdom to attend the event.

“Gamers8 is honestly one of the coolest events I’ve ever been to and I have been to everything, like events in New York and LA” said Anwar Jibawi to Arab News. “When I first entered I was just blown away. I had no idea it was going to be like this. I thought it was going to be like a convention. There’s so much to do I even want to extend my stay.”
