Kuwait’s Burj Mubarak set to become the world’s tallest tower
Kuwait’s skyline is set to undergo a drastic transformation with the construction of the Burj Mubarak, a tower that aims to claim the title of the world’s tallest structure.
The one-kilometer-high Burj Mubarak would be the centerpiece of Kuwait’s ambitious Madinat Al Hareer, or Silk City, project.
The Burj Mubarak is estimated to take about 25 years to complete. Its design consists of three interlocking, twisted structures designed to withstand winds of up to 240 km/h and the resulting vibrations.
The tower’s height of 1,001 meters would be a tribute to the collection of folk tales known as the One Thousand and One Nights, also known as the Arabian Nights, a gem of Arabic literature. At 234 stories, the Burj Mubarak would accommodate 7,000 people, making it not only the tallest building in Kuwait, but also the tallest building in the world, surpassing Dubai’s Burj Khalifa (828 meters).
The Burj Mubarak is also expected to feature seven vertical villages, integrating hotels, residences, offices and entertainment facilities, aiming to provide a complete living experience for its residents.

A milestone towards the post-oil era
The Madinat Al Hareer project is expected to attract investments totaling 25 billion Kuwaiti dinars, equivalent to US$82 million, contributing to Kuwait’s economic diversification. The ambitious project is expected to create 430,000 jobs for the local workforce. The new city is designed to accommodate more than 700,000 residents.
According to the Tamdeen Group, a real estate company involved in the project, Madinat Al Hareer will be divided into four distinct neighborhoods, each centered on its own urban center. The Finance City, Leisure City, Ecological City and Residential City districts have been meticulously designed, according to the group, with an emphasis on educational and cultural facilities.
