Netflix expands its support fund to the entire Arab film and television community

The health crisis that the world has been going through for over a year now has weakened many sectors. The cinematographic world, due to the closure of cultural venues, has been one of its greatest victims. With this in mind, and in order to support individuals in this field, netflix has once again expressed its support by expanding its solidarity fund for them. A generous gesture for the platform

Financial support for all Arab film Professional

In collaboration with the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC), Netflix has announced the creation of a new support fund to help those most affected by the pandemic in the film and television community in the Arab region.

Worth $500,000, the purpose of the fund is to provide financial support in the form of individual grants to crews, artisans and independents in the television and/or film industry in the Arab region, who are facing economic hardship on a daily basis as a result of halted productions and reduced opportunities due to COVID-19.

Simplified formalities

As of this week, members of the region’s film community will be able to apply for the fund by filling out an online application form and providing supporting documentation, including a list of the most recent projects they have worked on, references, an overview of any other emergency assistance they may have received in the past year, and a brief description of any difficulties they have encountered, such as cancelled or delayed projects.

Continuity of the Emergency Fund

The relief fund builds on the emergency relief fund that Netflix launched last year to support the Lebanese film and television industry after the deadly explosion in Beirut on August 4.

We have expanded the emergency fund to support more people in the Arab creative community. Forging the right partnerships allows us to create jobs, build talent pipelines and support the sector” said a Netflix spokesperson.

We are very grateful to be working with the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture and we hope that this fund will support the creative community during this difficult time” he continued.

A nice show of solidarity!
